SIGNATE Starts Open Recruitment for First Phase of “AI Edge Boot Camp” Beginning Lecture as Part of Investigation Project Regarding Efficient and Effective Implementation of Technology Development in AI Chip and Next-Generation Computing Fields

SIGNATE Inc., which provides human resource hiring and training services for AI developers and data scientists (main office in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, President & CEO Shigeru Saito), is starting open recruitment on the “AI Edge Boot Camp” (referred to as the “program” below) as a part of the “Investigation Regarding Efficient and Effective Implementation of Technology Development in AI Chip and Next-Generation Computing Fields” (referred to as the “project” below), through a commission from the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

The first phase of this program is entitled “Starting from Zero! Data Science Introduction Using Python,” which includes both an online (classroom lecture) part aimed at beginners in AI and data science as well as a face-to-face (hands-on) lecture program, with the purpose of training human resources with excellent skills and expanding the utilization of human resources with knowledge regarding this technology.

The second phase is aimed at those with intermediate and higher level skills in data science, and will use data from the project itself up to the AI Edge Contest (https://signate.jp/competitions/138) of January 27th, 2019 in order to apply the contest themes to a lecture with a curriculum of “Image Processing and Deep Learning: from the Basics to Practical Application,” thereby contributing to the fostering of human resources with excellent skills.

<Project Overview>
AI, which is greatly contributing to the achievement of “Connected Industries” and “Society 5.0,” requires the processing of massive amounts of data along with sufficient computer resources. At the same time, some are bemoaning the end of Moore’s Law that has driven past improvements in computing functionality, and we seem to have reached the limits of improvements that can be made by simply extending and improving existing technology. In order to resolve this challenge, we will need to implement new technologies in both hardware and software.

Against this background, the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (referred to as “NEDO” below) started the “Revolutionary AI Edge Computing Technology” and “Next-Generation Computing Technology” research and development projects in 2018. As a part of these projects, SIGNATE Inc. has been commissioned with “discovering and investigating ideas and human resources in advanced AI technology” as well as “discovering human resources with excellent skills and investigating methods of fostering human resources,” and is responsible for formulating and executing plans for the AI Edge Contest, AI Edge Boot Camp, and AI Frontier Program
